What is 2FA? Enabling two-factor auth and generating codes for MMO
Two-factor authentication (2FA) explained: why it's essential for MMO accounts, how to enable it with an authenticator app, and generating 2FA codes online.
2FA (Two-Factor Authentication) requires, beyond your password, a one-time code that changes constantly. Even if your password leaks, an attacker can’t log in without this code. For MMO accounts, 2FA is practically mandatory.
Why MMO needs 2FA
- MMO accounts are assets; leaked passwords are common.
- When buying an account, enabling 2FA locks ownership to you and prevents reclaiming.
- Ad/social accounts with 2FA are also more trusted by platforms.
How to enable 2FA
- Open the account’s Security section (Facebook, Google, TikTok…).
- Choose “Two-factor authentication” → use an authenticator app (recommended) over SMS.
- Scan the QR code with an authenticator app; the system shows a secret key — save it.
- Store the backup codes somewhere safe.
Generating a 2FA code online when needed

Combine with the trading process

Will 2FA lock me out if I lose my phone?
It can, if you didn't save backup codes or the secret key. Store the key/backup codes somewhere safe so you can recover.
SMS 2FA or an authenticator app?
An authenticator app (TOTP) is safer than SMS because it avoids SIM-swap risk. Prefer an app or a TOTP code generator.
